Rain, Rain, Go Away

     We received quite a rain shower yesterday. So, once again, the ground needs to dry up a bit along with any crops that remain. The majority of the remaining crops are these:


     Those are sugar beets in the foreground, and corn in the background. That's right, they're still here.

     
     Despite the cold mornings the beets remain green and leafy. As long as they can still gain nutrients they will store it as sugars, which is the entire point.


     The corn is turning yellow, but in this particular field its not the stalks that are of concern.


     It's the ears and their kernels that need to dry out. It won't be long now.
     The Sun is already starting to cook off the cloud cover of the morning. In conjunction with the breeze it will have the county dried out in no time. They'll head out into the fields very soon, I think.
