Granaries

With all the wheat being harvested, a place is needed where it can be stored. Granaries fulfill this roll.

Here are four granaries of varying sizes. Grain will be stored here until it is time to haul it off for sale. It has to get in there first, though.

After the combine fills up a truck, it can then dump the load anywhere. Here it's dumped into a tub that has the base of an auger in it.

An auger is a pipe with a screw in it, by turning it lifts the wheat up the pipe. This one is powered by the PTO of a tractor.

The wheat goes up the pipe and dumps into the top of the granary.
The wheat will be relatively protected in here until it's taken out and put in another truck to be sold. After that, where it goes is anybodies guess; Possibly a mill or seed company. After which it will be out of the farmers hands. But I'm getting ahead of myself here. No paychecks have come yet, and there is still much work to do.
